Actor, Writer & Voice Artist

Kia ora and welcome to my website! My name is Clare and I’m an actor, writer, voice artist & audio describer based in Tāmaki Makaurau – Auckland, New Zealand.

Here’s a nice review I got from Joyce McMillan once:

“Clare Marcie turns in a passionate performance as Natalie, the young intern who, however ineffectually, is at least trying to bring this world of abuse to light.” Blind Eye at The Traverse

I have also been described as an ‘unfettered fireball’ with ‘bucket loads of talent and vision‘ (thanks Neil Cooper and Matt Owen for making me blush).

I hold a BA in Theatre and English Literature from Victoria University (Wellington) and a Master of Arts in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Glasgow). To my utter delight, this masters included a residency at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.

In 2017 I was chuffed to receive development funding from Creative Scotland to develop solo show What Would Kanye Do? which then premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it received positive reviews and was shortlisted for the  Scottish Arts Club Theatre Award.

My writing has been published in print in 2019 in a collection titled Fresh Ink by boutique Auckland based publishing press Cloud Ink, and in 2014 in a collection titled Letter to an Unknown Soldier as part of the 1418 Now WW1 Centenary. I have also had my poetry featured on Edinburgh based online magazine Hot Tub Astronaut.

I’m now auditioning and developing my own projects. Recently you may have spotted me in the Heartland Bank ads, pretending I can make coffee.
